In need of more privacy, space and easy maintenance, the owner of this Kohimarama property contacted landscaping specialist Rose Bridge. Within 4 weeks the property's landscape had completely been updated.
Tired of her outdated patio, the owner of this Kohimarama property was eager to make some changes to her landscape so that it would be easier to maintain. She got in contact with Auckland Central landscaping specialist Rose Bridge, who was more than happy to bring her team on board for the project.
“The brief was to remove all of the existing eco-pavers, pebbles and stepping stones from client's patio and side pathway”, explains Rose. “The priority was to replace them with new, more modern, tidy and low-maintenance materials. The client also wanted a complete garden makeover, as she felt like the existing plants were becoming too large and overbearing within her small patio space. She wanted us to brighten up the whole area by creating a new planting plan that would be attractive and create a feeling of spaciousness.”
After discussing the client's ideas with her in detail, Rose understood what type of design she was seeking. She worked with her team on the design process, keeping in mind her client’s budget.
“The design challenge with this project was to come up with a 100% permeable solution for the client, so that she didn't exceed her site coverage, whilst also eliminating the growth of weeds and moss. Our solution was to use a combination of Outdure composite decking and tiles across the main part of the client’s patio, which were both permeable on the aluminium frame. We also opted for synthetic grass along the side path.”
Rose’s client approved the design, cost estimate and schedule, allowing the landscaping work to begin. A new enclosed and paved bin area was installed at the front of the property, which included a new garden area. Rose’s team also water blasted and painted all of the property’s existing fences and retaining walls.
One of the most innovative parts of the design was created when the client decided she wanted to try to hide an existing red wall in her backyard.
“We fixed three custom-made decorative powder-coated black aluminium panels to the wall. It contrasts nicely with the red paint, and we planted a combination of red and white plants in the foreground.”
Rose managed the entire landscaping project, ensuring trusted local tradespeople carried out every detail with precision. The $53,000 project was completed in just four weeks, leaving Rose’s client with a chic new space in which to enjoy social gatherings and outdoor relaxation.
