Tired of their overgrown garden, the owners of this Te Puna property asked Zones landscaping specialist Nigel Ramsden to provide them with a garden transformation. They wanted to enhance the aesthetics and privacy of their entranceway - following a garden tidy-up.

“The area was overgrown and had become a bit wild”, explains Nigel. “The area was cleared by the client and we installed the design.”

Nigel managed the design implementation, ensuring it was to his client's specifications. This meant that his clients’ didn’t need to worry about scheduling and managing contract workers - Nigel took care of every stage for them, with the assistance of his team.

New planting

Following the garden tidy up, Nigel’s team boarded the garden with recycled railway sleepers, which he says added character and definition. Pebbles and rocks were placed along the rear of the garden, followed by the planting of a feature tree. A variety of plants were included in the plan, such as bush lilies, maukurangi (miniature tree fern), silver lady ferns, tropical evergreens, Lomandra Little Con grass, bird of paradise and Australian frangipani. While the plants are currently in their early stages, they will grow into a stunning garden.

“Nigel and his team were great and transformed a problem garden to a feature area which we love"

Outdoor privacy screen

The team installed two screens featuring a leaf design - improving the privacy of the bathroom. Nigel’s client selected and supplied a water fountain, which Nigel’s team also installed.

The final step was to dress the garden with a good mulch, keeping it healthy.

“The water feature looks and sounds great and works really well with the rocks and pebbles”, tells Nigel. “Using simple and economical screens gave the bathroom window some privacy from a neighbouring property. I think it looks awesome - what a transformation!”

The final result

In a Houzz review, Nigel’s client Lois speaks highly of the team and the garden transformation:

“Nigel and his team were great and transformed a problem garden to a feature area which we love. From the meetings with Stacey (of Modernscape NZ) and us to discuss our plans through to the final tidy up, Nigel was very helpful and proactive with ideas to suit our particular garden. Nigel and his team got the job done (laying sleepers, installing a screen and a water feature, pebbles and planting) efficiently and tidily. We are happy to recommend Nigel of Zones Landscapes to future clients.”
