Hillside area transformation
Zones transformed this dated and shady area on a hillside section into a usable, family-friendly outdoor living space. The project involved removing the existing lawn, re-boxing hedges and installing artificial turf to counter poor growth conditions. Zones was able to reuse existing stone from the property, giving something old a new lease of life, while also incorporating new features.
Modern, resort-like front and backyard makeover
Encompassing a complete outdoor design, driveway, lighting, landscaping and layout changes, this Zones makeover resulted in a sophisticated and quality outdoor area. The front and backyard of this property now have a streamlined, uncluttered tropical look, defined with edging plants. The deck installed extended the area around the swim spa and made access to the garage and the back of the house easier. Not only did the homeowners add value to their home, but they dramatically improved the indoor-outdoor flow of the existing house.
Zoning in on a long landscape
With a somewhat ill-defined brief that included low maintenance planting, a feng shui influence, and increased privacy, a landscaping project in one of Auckland’s popular eastern suburbs promised plenty of challenges for Zones landscaping specialists Debbie and Stuart Gill.
Stylish, low maintenance landscape design
With a large wrap-around deck and a fire pit for outdoor entertaining, this backyard was transformed into the Wards’ dream outdoor area. Zones specialist Debbie Gill designed a stylish, functional, and low-maintenance space with half the original budget.

A series of levels, seemingly problematic, have become an amazing platform for a three-tiered landscape that now graces the property of Mount Eden. The slope that once was a force of nature is now developed and has given clients Geoff and Rose lots of different options to entertain their friends on all levels.
When Mike and Genevieve Broadbent decided to renovate their backyard in Herne Bay, they did so to make a statement. Their beautiful house would be well at home with a traditional classic look. But Mike opted instead for a resort style landscape. As a result, walking into their garden is an experience not easily forgotten.

Whangaparaoa Peninsula hosts some of the most amazing coastal views around – and Tindalls Bay is no exception. In the past 10 years since John and Jenny Dunn have lived there, they have battled with the luring effect of their coastal outlook, only to be driven back inside once the wind picked up. Planning for this extension took place over the next 12 months. It became a culmination of John’s ideas, those of his architect, and Landscape Designers Peter Nobbs, Jules Moore and Mark Buchanan from Landscape Designer Ltd.
Outdoor entertainment extravaganza
Due to the creative landscaping works of Matt McIsaac, Jules Moore and their team from Landscape Designer Ltd, owner Jacqui now has a garden she can be proud of. It’s a garden that abounds with design and detailing. The whole experience leaves you wanting more.
Forget the old image of raised vege boxes carelessly scattered in the back yard. Imagine an elegant contemporary planted space that included layers of planting, using standard trees for structure and clipped hedges beneath. Imagine coloured foliage adding interest when there are no flowers, and the added bonus of promised bounty.
