Initial Consultation Meetings – What To Expect

How does your garden grow?

We all like to spend a bit of time at home, some of us more than others. But whether we’re living in a lock up and leave townhouse or a neighbourhood villa with a manicured lawn, it’s always a pleasure to look out on a well-designed garden.

The catch is, not all of us have green thumbs; nor do we necessarily know where to start when it comes to designing our backyards… or front yards for that matter. Fortunately, the Zones Auckland Central Landscaping team do. What’s more, they’ve helped hundreds of homeowners in the area to transform their outdoor space into a set up that suits their lifestyle.

From outdoor entertainment areas to raised vegetable gardens, low maintenance living to tropical paradises, Auckland’s climate allows you to have fun in your garden but starting the project can be tricky. That’s why our team of Auckland landscaping specialists offer a free initial consultation to discuss your project.

What happens during the initial consultation meeting?

The purpose of the Zones consultation meeting is to provide you with an opportunity to discuss your ideas with a local Landscaping Consultant. From big ideas to small ideas, wild ideas to conservative ones, no idea is too out of the box for our experts.

Our team worked with these Remuera homeowners to create a stylish and sophisticated outdoor living area. This was a very different project to the one we worked on for this family home in Mt Albert where we installed a new pool and entertainment space to match the home’s recent renovations. Both projects were successful because of the initial consultation we had with the homeowners to understand what it was they wanted to achieve from their landscape.

It also gives our Landscaping Consultants the opportunity to offer advice, ask questions about why you want your garden to look like you do, what it is you want to achieve from it, how you live, materials, colours, and plants that you like, where you seek inspiration from and, the big question, what’s your budget.

How to prepare for your consultation

This initial consultation is free and lasts one hour, so to get the most out of your time with one of our local landscaping experts, consider these key points before they arrive:

  • Inspiration: where has it come from? Do you have some examples you can show?
  • Priorities: what are your must haves, nice to haves, and if you could you would haves?
  • Budget: in short, what is it? How much are you willing to spend?
  • Designs: Have you had any drawn up? Have you sketched some design ideas yourself? Or are you working from a blank slate?
  • Permits: Have you investigated whether permits are required for the grand plans you have for your landscape?
  • Research and reviews: Feel free to research our team and get an understanding of who we are, what we offer, and some of the projects we’ve helped homeowners with.

What happens after your initial consultation?

After your initial consultation, if you want to proceed with support from our Auckland Central Zones Landscaping specialists, we’ll start the ball rolling with our unique five-step process, the next stage of which is the concept design and estimation.

From there, we can provide you with a detailed design, project timeframe, and a fixed quote accurate to your project. Construction and planting follow and then the final result is one you’ll be able to enjoy.

That was certainly the case for these homeowners in Grey Lynn, who our team helped to reimagine their backyard.

Another project our team enjoyed working on was this lush spa retreat in St Heliers. With some clever planning and custom features, this boring backyard was transformed into a tailor-made BBQ space, complete with tropical planting.
