This Rodney family opted for a pool, lawn and garden revamp.

WORDS Mina Phillips

Deciding they were ready to make the most out of their landscape, this Rodney based family contacted Zones landscaping to discuss their ideas. They met with landscaping specialist Judd Stratful, who took a tour of their site, listened to their ideas and provided advice before putting together a plan with the help of his team of landscaping experts.

Judd’s customers had a few areas they wanted to focus on. Their swimming pool area needed a fence, pool pump house and decking. They also wanted to improve the presentation of their lawn and garden area. Judd provided them with a design, explaining any costs and consents that would be included. Satisfied with the work that would be carried out, the family signed off on the project so that work could begin.

“The customer was in a hurry to complete the project”, says Judd. “We drew a simple design, the afternoon after we met, that worked. We then quoted the job from there and started the following week!"

“The customer was in a hurry to complete the project”, says Judd. “We drew a simple design, the afternoon after we met, that worked. We then quoted the job from there and started the following week!"

Judd created a project schedule, managing each stage to ensure everything went smoothly and stayed within his client’s budget. The deck was built around the pool using garapa decking timber from Mitre 10 and a small house was built around the pool pump. Black aluminium fencing was then installed around the pool, designed to meet New Zealand’s pool regulations.

Judd and his team then turned their attention to the lawn area.

“We retained the lawn area and lay ready lawn to give an infinity lawn feeling”, tells Judd.

The property was then framed with planter beds and a garden was planted and mulched. Fruit trees were planted as well as coprosma, pleached ficus tuffi and Corikia Gentis Green hedging. This left the family with an attractive open space, perfect for social gatherings.

It was a lot of work within 6 weeks, but Judd says it was absolutely worth it:

“The final result was excellent!”
