If you are looking for some inspiration for your garden update, why not look at some of the best projects Zones did in 2019? Here are the winners of the 2019 Garden of the Year People’s Choice Awards, as voted by you:

Gold Award:

A character villa’s garden transformation in Omokoroa by Nichola Vague

Winning the 2019 Garden of the Year Gold Award is Nichola Vague for this coastal Tauranga home transformation. Where others saw an overgrown and cluttered garden, Nichola saw nothing but potential. She set out to create an outdoor living and entertainment space that allowed the home to breathe, while reflecting its beauty. The homeowners ended up with a stunning, functional space that they can use to entertain all-year-round, with added heating and lighting, to new decking and a fresh coat of paint. Silver Award:

A feature wall with a twist in Kohimarama by Rose Bridge

Taking home the Silver Award is Rose Bridge with this garden makeover in Kohimarama. These homeowners wanted to transform their garden into a modern, tidy, and low maintenance area. Rose and her team installed composite decking and tiles across the patio, both of which were permeable on the aluminium frame. She also installed synthetic grass along the side path, water blasted and painted all of the property’s existing fences and retaining walls, and created a brand new planting plan. However, the stand-out aspect of this project is the breathtaking feature-wall with three custom-made decorative powder-coated black aluminium panels against a fresh coat of red paint.
