The Zones Franklin team are led by Stu & Debbie Gill who have built a very strong reputation in Waiuku, Papakura, Karaka, Pukekohe and surrounding areas for delivering customer service that is second to none. They focus on delivering projects on time and on budget and do this through their team of landscaping specialists. This team includes qualified landscape designers and architects who work with clients to create amazing projects. Also in the team are dedicated and hardworking landscapers, builders and other tradespeople who build the project as it was designed.
Since Stu, Debbie and their team started nearly three years ago, they have completed over fifty projects across the Franklin region with many more currently being designed or planned to start. The completed projects have been wide ranging in their scope and have included swimming pools, water features, decks, retaining walls, irrigation systems, pergolas, swim spas and spa pools and of course loads and loads of fantastic planting!
To help the team deliver on time and to budget, Zones use cloud based IT systems which help to keep the budget, time frames, communication and project plan on track throughout the design, quote and build stages.
Having the right technical skills and qualifications is critical as is complying with central and local government regulations. Some of the regulations that the Franklin team take into account are the requirement for building or resource consent (or sometimes both), the application of best practice health & safety systems and environmental laws. There are also certain certain landscaping works, such as certain decks and structures, that require a licensed building practitioner to undertake. These works also require a licensed building practitioner to design.
Stu & Debbie have also built strong relationships with local suppliers who understand what Zones and our customers are looking for and what they need to do to deliver the shared vision of Zones and our customers. Zones Franklin’s supply partners include PlaceMakers, Mitre 10 and Central Landscape Supplies.
The Franklin District has a fantastic spread of architectural styles from classic early settlement homes in weatherboard and iron to the recently built modern homes in new subdivisions such as Karaka. The landscape plans produced by Stu & Debbie’s design team vary according to the house type and the section size and slope. Other factors that we take into account in the design are privacy, aspect (eg north facing, south facing, etc), soil conditions and access. In terms of access, Stu and his team can get the right equipment in to allow for the movement of materials around the side of the house to the back or vice versa.
Franklin is famous for its rich, volcanic soils as evidenced by the long standing agricultural industry supplying Kiwi staples such as potatoes and lettuces. But across Franklin there are variances in the soil types which are critical to understand when planning and installing plant types. The climate, being close to the Manukau harbour is largely coastal and subject to salty and windblown conditions but also with cool winter months with fog and frost so this is also taken into account when selecting plant types.
