An ability to provide outstanding customer service and a desire to see clients happy with a fantastic finished product are just two factors that motivated Boyd to become a Zones Landscape franchisee. Having been specialising in the landscaping sector since 2014 years, Boyd has gathered a wealth of knowledge by taking enquiries and guiding clients through the process to see the completion of jobs of all shapes and sizes.
Everyone has an idea of the things they would like around their home to make the outdoor function and be more usable so being able to listen, realise the owners vision whilst also helping to develop that vision further allow Boyd the opportunity to live in the dream job. With the Landscape sector of construction always changing, Boyd enjoys the fact that no two days are the same and the constant fluid nature of solving any problems that occasionally pop up. Being able to finish a job and stand back and be willing to put your name on it is something that continues to provide motivation for Boyd.
After training as a teacher, Boyd spent a number of years overseas playing professional rugby through Italy, Fukuoka and the USA with a six year stop in Japan being a highlight. On returning to New Zealand, he picked up the tools and was involved in residential construction for six years - mainly in the renovation market helping homeowners realise the potential of their property. His project management experience came with the building of a spec house and the extensive renovation of his home. This was followed by five years owning his own FMCG distribution company that saw him work across all aspects of the business. It was these experiences that helped him realise the need for communication and a thorough attention to detail in order to achieve best practice results.
Boyd was born, raised and educated on the North Shore and this has meant he has been able to develop strong working relationships with a network of designers, suppliers and contractors in the area. He has owned and worked in his own business and understands the need for clear communication. He lives in Rothesay Bay with his wife Angela, son Luke and daughter Brooke. Weekends are either spent coaching and watching children’s sport, surfing, out on the boat or visiting grandparents at the Coromandel or Omaha.
