After 33 years working with well-respected companies in the financial services sector; in the UK, Middle East and New Zealand, Charlie has gained extensive corporate experience and project management skills. Experience and skills, he now brings to the Zones Tauranga team having left a senior management position to realise his dream of joining Nichola in their landscape business.
As a relative late comer to the landscaping industry, Charlie sees great opportunity and benefit in applying Zones 5-step best practice process and robust management systems. Proven time and time again to ensure projects are delivered smoothly, on time and to their customer requirements.
Charlie believes that the core of service excellence is simply working together as a team; regular two-way communication, and being upfront and honest with each other. He is always happy when spending time with clients helping them work-through their ideas and bringing their visions to life. Functional outdoor living areas that have great flow and landscapes are an essential part of a great home and also a great way of adding value to a property.
Originally from Penzance in the UK, as a child Charlie spent much of his time on his uncle’s farm both playing and working, cutting neighbours lawns for pocket money and competing in a variety of sports; golf, tennis, football, etc.
Charlie is qualified Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. More recently he has completed a horticulture qualification in botany and plant production and is now studying the complexities of soil science. Charlie loves learning new facts and information that he can apply in his work.
After leaving England, Charlie lived in the Middle East for 10 years, travelling around the region for work and leisure. In 2006 Charlie and Nichola married in Dubai, where they were both working and moved to New Zealand where Nichola was born. As well as maintaining a successful business Charlie and Nichola spend their spare time with their two active boys around the local sport fields as coaches (football, hockey, tennis and cricket) and avid supporters. They live a busy lifestyle and enjoy hitting the local beaches and great outdoors; walking and cycling. They are hands on in the family garden, growing healthy organic produce and intend to use their landscaping skills to develop their new property in the Bay of Plenty.
Charlie and Nichola’s goal is to use their combined skills and experience to provide personalised creative landscape design, build and maintenance solutions that inspire and exceed their clients’ expectations.
