Kate brings 22 years of experience working in the clothing industry where she was a buyer and account manager for well-known household brands in New Zealand.
With a keen eye for design and detail, she has extensive experience working with clients and suppliers, and building strong relationships with clear communications. She understands and enjoys the process of creating the best design to suit her clients, for the right budget and delivering a quality finish.
While project managing her own award winning house and garden, her interests grew in the build and landscaping processes. Creating well thought out, striking designs that fit the Kiwi lifestyle is so rewarding, and Kate is excited to help clients achieve this for themselves. What makes the Zones offer so appealing to clients is dealing with one point of contact to coordinate the entire process. Kate saw firsthand how tiring it is dealing with numerous contractors, especially at the end of a house build.
Kate has studied Landscape Design and loves the design process transforming properties to their full potential. The value added not only in increasing the property sale price but also the huge enjoyment value of your landscaped outdoor spaces, Kate believes is truely worth the investment. The major trend for creating great outdoor living and entertaining spaces, extending the indoor living outside, has increased hugely over the last few years. With Zones we keep up with these trends and have the supply partners to give a topnotch landscaping service.
Before entering the landscape world Kate went down the creative route of fashion and importing. Traveling extensively on buying trips through the United States and Europe as well as China checking production. Drawing inspiration from travels, seeing different architecture and cultures has been awesome for keeping an open mind and ideas for here. Kate has extensive experience working with buyers managing key accounts and supply management. Planning in the design phase in the fashion world, quoting and implementation is very similar to planning landscape work. Being creative to visualize a design, then making it come out as that vision with the best outcome is what Kate loves and is passionate about.
Kate grew up on a South Island hill country farm with a huge garden that battled the elements but which was an oasis amongst the Canterbury hills. Her family are passionate gardeners and environmentalists which lead to her interest in landscaping. Kate draws inspiration from her upbringing in the stunning South Island landscapes.
Kate is married to Paddy with two children, Jessie and Tomas, living in the family-friendly suburb of Westmere. When she is not gardening, she enjoys walking the dog, yoga, skiing, fishing and entertaining friends.
