The Zones team of Landscape Architects and Designers in Tauranga offer the skills and capabilities to deliver your landscaping project on time, on budget and to the highest quality finish.
We’ve had an amazing and varied journey getting to where we are now. The experience has led us to believe that the people behind the company are as important as the company itself. We’re a sincere team of people, who’s philosophy is one of partnering with our clients. We’re not a big faceless company, nor do we want to be one. We have a straightforward vision to provide personalised landscape design, build and maintenance solutions that inspire and exceed our clients’ expectations.
Together the power of Zones Tauranga offers the skills and capabilities to deliver your project on time, on budget and to the highest quality finish. To achieve this, we work closely with our skilled team of local trade partners and national suppliers. As good practice we continually vet the quality of their work, product selection, cost effectiveness and attention to detail.
As a team, our experience and backgrounds are truly varied. We boast over 25 years of proven experience in the landscape industry, both locally and internationally. Although varied what’s important is that these skills complement and build upon each other. The spectrum stretches from our qualified landscape architects and designers who provide you with creativity, to 3-D modelling experts, dedicated project managers who pull all the pieces together and handle the stress for you, to professionals who can provide you with sound financial budgeting advice, and trained consultants who listen and provide you with thought provoking ideas.
As an example, Nichola Vague our Landscape Architect has 23 years’ experience in the landscape industry following her graduation from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) in 1994. Nichola also spent time on the National Executive for the NZILA and as a contributing writer for numerous professional publications.

The Zones team of Landscape Architects, Designers and Specialists in Tauranga
As a growth region Tauranga draws a vast selection of trades. This is both good and bad. Growth brings vibrancy, wealth, greater competition and a new variety of choice. On the flip side there is a greater risk of encountering amateur landscapers, unprofessional behaviour and workloads that demand jobs to be completed at pace, too often to the detriment of the quality of finish.
At Zones, as landscaping specialists we understand that you are investing your time, money and emotional wellbeing into your property. Our job is to make sure you receive the best value and quality return for your investment. We know that managing a landscape project with multiple contractors can be time-consuming, complex, for some daunting and often confusing.
Some of the basic questions you should ask yourself:
- First of all, who is reputable and who isn’t?
- If you obtain references, how authentic are they?
- Do you have the time and skills to manage a project with multiple jobs and contractors?
- Are you comfortable comparing quotes and are you positive everything required is included?
- What knowledge do you have about grades and type of material and their impact on the finished product?
- Is your contractor insured?
- How sure are you that the contractors will turn up and keep to their agreed schedule of works?
- How do you know the completed work is fit for purpose and meets with building regulations?
There are many questions and many pitfalls and the truth is that it can end costing you a lot of money if it’s done wrong.
Tip: it’s worth spending more time and effort in the design phase, as it can save you time, money and costly mistakes in the build phase.
